IVI is an international non-profit organization devoted to developing and introducing new and improved vaccines to protect the people, especially children, against deadly infectious diseases.
It was established in 1997 on the initiatives of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
Its work is exclusively on vaccine development and introduction specifically for people in developing countries, with a focus on neglected diseases affecting these regions.
International Vaccine Institute (IVI) is conceptualised to Discover, develop and deliver safe, effective and affordable vaccines for global public health.
IVI develops and delivers vaccines against infectious diseases with limited commercial potential yet high public health importance.
IVI is headquartered in Seoul, the Republic of Korea. The Republic of Korea, Sweden, and the World Health Organization (WHO) are among the 36 signatories to its international treaty.
IVI focuses on vaccines against infectious diseases affecting the World’s most impoverished. IVI aim to make vaccines available and accessible for vulnerable populations in developing countries.
